PURPOSE:To speedily take a measurement with high accuracy by heating a magnetic disk medium sample whose surface is coated with a liquid lubricious film to different temperatures and finding the number of days required to attain to constant film thickness. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic disk sample whose surface is coated with the liquid lubricious film is heated to >=2 different temperatures T1, T2... and the numbers t1, t2... of days required to attain to constant film thickness (d) are found to determine active energy Q and a frequency factor A from the relational expression among speed constants K1, K2... of the active energy of molecule vaporization of the liquid lubricious film of the magnetic disk medium sample and the Boltzman constant R by using equations I. Then, the number (t) of days required to reach the film thickness (d) at a specific in-use temperature T0 is calculated by the Arrhenius's equation II. Further, the numbers T01, t02... of days required to reach the film thickness d', d''... at other in-use temperatures T0 are found similarly. Then, a film thickness variation characteristic curve corresponding to the temperature T0 is found from a plotting graph of the found film thickness-to-heating day number values is found to determine the number of days required to reach the specific film thickness.
