PRODUCTION OF METALLIC MOLD FOR OPTICAL FIBER CONNECTING FERRULE AND MASTER FOR PRODUCING METALLIC MOLD

PURPOSE:To produce a titled metallic mold which is repeatedly usable putting a sleeve made of a hard material on a pin at the top end of a master, forming the mold in this state around the pin and pulling the master and pin except the sleeve alone which is left in the mold. CONSTITUTION:The pin consisting of the hard material is fixed to the top end of the master 20 consisting of a conductive material and the sleeve 22 is mounted to the pin 21. The sleeve 22 is formed of a hard and wear resistant material such as ceramics and a small hole 23 of an inside diameter size to the extent of permitting insertion and removal of the pin 21 is previously formed along the central axial line thereof. The sleeve 22 is tentatively fixed to the extent of preventing the dislodgment of the pin 22 and a metal is deposited on the surface of the master 20 by electrocasting to form the metallic mold having a cavity 9 corresponding to the outside shape of the master 20. The pin 21 is removed from the small hole 23 of the sleeve 22 and the mold having the sleeve 22 is formed when the master 20 is pulled. The eccentricity of the pin insertion hole 23 is thereby minimized and the ferrule which hardly wears even after repetitive is obtd.
