PURPOSE:To accurately measure glucose with good reproducibility, by coating an electrode system with a perforated reaction layer and respectively setting the quantity of glucose oxidase and that of a conjugated electron acceptor to 40-100U/cm<2> and 10-20mum/cm<2> per the unit area of the perforated reaction layer. CONSTITUTION:An electrode system is formed using a carbonaceous material and coated with a perforated reaction layer respectively containing a definite quantity of glucose oxidase in a range of 40-100U/cm<2> and a definite quantity of a conjugated electron acceptor in a range of 10-20mum/cm<2> per the unit area of the perforated reaction layer. When a liquid specimen is dripped on the perforated reaction layer to be infiltrated therein, glucose oxidase being enzyme and the electron acceptor are rapidly dissolved in said liquid specimen and the enzymatic reaction with the glucose in the liquid specimen advances. Since the enzyme and the electron acceptor are contained in the reaction layer in the optimum quantities, the non-uniformity or insufficiency of dissolution and reaction is not generated and stable reaction can be performed and accurate measurement can be performed with good reproducibility. |
