PURPOSE:To remove even fine impurities in a hot dipping bath by filtration, by forming a filter for removing fine impurities in a hot dipping bath such as hot dip galvanizing bath, etc., of a porous binding layer of ceramics grains. CONSTITUTION:Since fine impurities such as intermetallic compounds as reaction products with a steel sheet to be plated, firebrick layer constituting a plating tank, etc., are contained in a hot dip galvanizing bath 10, the bath 10 is sucked up by means of a pump 7 and introduced into a filter box 5. In the filter box 5, the central part is divided into an upper half 5c and a lower half 5d by means of a plate-like ceramic filter 3 prepared by binding ceramic grains of Al2O3, SiO2, SiC etc., with binders, so that hot dip galvanizing bath is passed through the ceramic filter 3 to undergo removal of contained impurities by filtration and the returned to the hot dip galvanizing bath 10 in the plating tank by means of a circulating pipe 8.
