PURPOSE:To enable both a top face and a side face to be tapped simultaneously, by rotating and driving two taps by means of universal joints. CONSTITUTION:The top face of a workpiece is machined vertically by means of the tap 6 of a spindle 5 connected to a left hand universal joint 4. A tap 27 for workpiece side-face tapping, driven by a flexible shaft 8 is provided on a right hand universal joint 4. An arm 10 can be moved vertically through the adjustment of a screw 12, and a holder 13 is rotatably supported by the arm 10 with a spherical projection. By varying the longitudinal position and the inclination angle of the holder 13 arbitrarily, tapping at an arbitrary angle can be carried out through the tap 27. |
