<p>Abrasion-resistant vulcanisate comprises rubber (e.g. SBR), a finely-divided reinforcing silica pigment, and an azidoformiate of formula : where x is 1-4, and R is an organic residue with >=1 C atom per azidoformiate gp., and contg. a functional gp., which can combine with the silica pigment when x is 1. Triethysilylpropyl- and/or diethyleneglycolbis-(azidoformiate) is suitable. Used in mfr. of rubber articles subjected to heavy abrasive stresses.</p> |
