PURPOSE:To promote the improvement of accuracy and the reduction of labor hours, by fixing a packing to a base, mounting an arm, which enables its supporting point to be moved and length to be adjusted, to a point, which agrees with the circular arc center of the packing, actuating said arm to perform a pendulum motion and cutting the packing by a cutting tool in the point end of said arm. CONSTITUTION:A circular arc center O of a fixed packing ring 15 is placed to agree with a supporting point X of an arm 13, which has a cutting jig 16, being confirmed by reading a dial indicator 17. Next, the rotating arm 13 adjusts its length M by turning an adjusting handle 14 so that the length M obtains a sum of required depth of cut S and a circular arc radius length L of the packing ring 15. And the required depth of cut is permitted to be obtained accurately in low labor hours by actuating the arm 13 to perform pendulum motion.
