PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of a current caused by short-circuit, by forming a negative electrode only of a terminal and a foil-shaped alkaline metal or an alkaline earth metal and providing a confronting positive electrode with a portion continuous in a lengthwise direction which is not filled with an active material. CONSTITUTION:A portion corresponding to a solid active material of a usual battery is filled with carbon black having polytetrafluoroethylene as a binder serving as a liquid active material holding member and a collector 6. A positive electrode 1' has a band-shaped portion 7 of a width of 10 mm with which a carbon black active material is not filled and a negative electrode 4' confronting it comprises a foil-shaped lithium with a terminal 5 attached by an active material 3'. A D-type battery is provided by winding the positive electrode 1', the negative electrode 4' and a separator in a spiral-shape. Since a band-shaped collector is not used in the negative electrode 4', a collector is not exposed as a discharging action proceeds so that internal short-circuit is not caused by burrs of a negative electrode collector even in a battery system wherein the positive electrode 1' expands in discharging. |
