PURPOSE:To use a low-voltage DC power source to constitute an inexpensive surface light source by providing a prescribed number of holes at intervals of a prescribed length and generate secondary light sources, whose number corresponds to the number of holes by the light, which is radiated from a primary light source and is transmitted in a transmission line, to illuminate all of the surface of a plate with one light source. CONSTITUTION:Hole groups 2 having a proper diameter are provided at intervals of a proper length on the way of the optical transmission line consisting of a bar-shaped or plate-shaped body which is made from optically transparent materials 11 and has an optional section, and the light from a single light source 4 placed in one end of said body is scattered by these hole groups 2. Thus, plural secondary light sources whose number corresponds to that of holes are generated in positions of hole groups 2 and are used. That is, one light source is sufficient for irradiation of many displays and electric wirings are shortened and the constitution is made simple and compact if this device is applied to a display device or an instrument board.
