PURPOSE:To prevent a blow-out defect of a weld zone, and to obtain the titled electrode which is satisfactory, by subjecting a formed body consisting of sponge titanium containing specific components to high-energy beam welding, and a specifying a ratio of the depth of penetration to the width of a bead. CONSTITUTION:In case of manufacturing a melting electrode by welding a sponge titanium formed body, a formed body consisting sponge titanium containing <=1000ppm Cl: <=500ppm Mg: and <=750ppm Na: is subjected to high-energy beam welding. Also, welding is executed so that a ratio Hp/W of the depth of penetration Hp of a bead to the width W of the bead becomes secondary or above. In such a way, a weld zone generates no blow-out defect, and a satisfactory electrode is obtained. |
