PURPOSE:To reduce a pumping loss while adjusting properly the output of each cylinder by providing draft amount controlling valves in communicating paths affording communication between operating chambers on three cylinders and disposing an opening of said path to increase the communicating period between said operating chambers. CONSTITUTION:Communicating paths 21, 22 are provided which afford communication between an operating chamber in the compression stroke of one of cylinders 5-7 and that in the intake stroke of the other cylinder. In these communicating paths 21, 22 are respectively provided controlling valves 23, 24 for controlling a draft amount according to an engine load amount. Openings 21a, 21b, 22a, 22b of said paths are disposed to increase the communicating period between the operating chamber in the compression stroke of third cylinder 7 and that in the intake stroke of second cylinder 6. Thus, a pumping loss is reduced while the output of each cylinder can be properly adjusted.
