The supercritical gas used is SF 6 , CHF 3 , CHF 2 Cl, CF 3 Cl, CF 2 =CH 2 , C 3 F 8 , N 2 O, C 2 H 6 , C 2 H 4 , CO 2 or a mixture of these. In examples supercritical CO 2 is used to extract (a) coconut fat from crushed copra, (b) oil from crushed sunflower seeds, (c) oil from crushed soya beans and (d) oil from crushed peanut kernels. As shown, vegetable matter is extracted at A and the fat and/or oil is spearated at B. The extractive gas can be in either the liquid or gaseous form at B and is thereafter recycled by a liquid gas pump or compressor K; heat exchangers W1, W2 and W3 are provided.</p> |
