An image input device is shown, and has a position detecting table, which has position detecting coils, which are arranged so that they define a co-ordinate system which corresponds to the co-ordinates for the image of an object which lies on the table, a scanner, which has an image reader, to supply image information, a position detector, to prepare positional co-ordinate information in reaction to the scanning operation for the object, and a processor, to process the image information and the positional co-ordinate information. The scanner position detector has at least one coil unit which is fixed, so that its position relative to the scanner does not change, and the processor has a unit to detect the skewness of the scanning direction of the scanner relative to one axis of the co-ordinate system of the position detecting table on the basis of the positional co-ordinate information, a unit to convert the co-ordinates of the image information, which corresponds to the scanning point on the object on the basis of the image information and of the output of the skewness detecting device, and a memory to store the image information in address positions which correspond to the converted positional co-ordinates.
