Recoverying halobutyl rubber from org. solvent soln contg. halogen acid (in which soln butyl rubber was halogenated) by adding 1 vol of an aq. soln of a mineral base of such conc as to give an aq. phase having a pH of 6.5-11.0 adding an alkaline soap. and then, without phase separation, vaporising (with the aq. phase at pH 9.0-11.0) to eliminate the org. solvent as head vapours (with a small amt of water) and recovering the rubber particles from aq. suspension. Simpler than prior art processes, reduced losses of rubber in solvent, and reduces the amt of halogen acid in the rubber this improving its stability and reducing its corrosive effect on equipment.
|
