PURPOSE:To obtain an Fe-Ni alloy sheet having superior etchability and giving a high quality uniform shadow mask by mask by carrying out final annealing before final cold rolling in an atmosphere consisting of hydrogen and nitrogen in a specified volume ratio. CONSTITUTION:An Fe-Ni alloy is melted, cast, forged, hot rolled and pickled. It is subjected to properly repeated cold rolling and annealing, and final annealing before final cold rolling is carried out in an atmosphere consisting of >=95vol% hydrogen and the balance nitrogen. The final cold rolling is then carried out to obtain a metallic sheet for a shadow mask. When holes for passing electron beams are pierced in the metallic sheet by etching, a high accuracy shadow mask for color picture tube can be produced. |
