<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled inexpensive device, having an optical detection system and a pair of electrodes in a transparent passage with an inside diameter permitting only one cell to pass, capable of detecting the species of the cells with the optical detection system and applying high-voltage pulses to the electrodes and kill unnecessary cells when detecting such cells. CONSTITUTION:A container 32 for containing a cell suspension is connected to one end of a transportation pipe 30 having a passage permitting only one cell to pass in the interior of a transparent pipe wall and a recovery container 44 is connected to the other end. A cell species discrimination device consisting of light irradiation systems 62, 64 an 66, detection systems 72, 74, 76, 70 and 78 and a discriminator 80 is provided in the course of the transportation pipe 30 and a pair of electrodes 82 and 84 and electric power sources 84-92 for applying high-voltage pulses thereto are provided at the same time. Furthermore, light irradiation systems 56 and 58 and detection systems 60 and 62 for detecting the cells passing through the parts are provided. When cells passing through the cell species discrimination device are found to be unnecessary thereby, high-voltage pulses are applied to the electrodes to kill the cells.</p> |
