PURPOSE:To alleviate the undesirable influence of the surfactant remaining after use by preparing the title nonionic surfactant with an allyl group-contg. compd. shown by a specified general formula to treat the substance nonreactive with the compd. CONSTITUTION:Nonylphenol or lauryl alcohol is used as the raw material, allyl glycidyl ether is heated and allowed to react with the material in the presence of a catalyst, and an alkylene oxide is further added to the reaction product to produce a surfactant. The surfactant is expressed by formula I (R is 8-30C alkyl group, alkenyl group, aryl group, and aralkylaryl group, A is 2-4C alkylene group and substituted alkylene group, n is 0-100 integer, and m is 1-200 integer).
