PURPOSE:To utilize again electric charge stored at the time of diving, and increase power efficiency, by providing a switching circuit which makes electric charge stored in a piezoelectric element flow inversely from a higher potential side to a lower potential side, and charges the piezoelectric element in the state of inverse polarity. CONSTITUTION:When a charge command signal V2 which is applied to the base of a transistor Tr3 takes a high level, the Tr3 turns on and a voltage is applied to a piezoelectric element 2 from a DC power source 1, which charges it in the direction of A. The piezoelectric element 2 expands and contracts, and this displacement is transferred to a dot printer which is an object to be driven. When the charge command signal V2 takes a low level, the Tr3 turns off. After that, when a trigger voltage V3 is applied to the gate 6a of a thyristor 6, it enters a conduction state. The electric charge stored in the piezoelectric element 2 flows in the direction of X through a reactor 5 and the thyristor 6, and charges up the piezoelectric element 2 in the direction of B.
