PURPOSE:To permit the energy of irregular waves to be absorbed with good efficiency by forming a resonance state for the variation of irregular waves by a method in which many water columns having different natural periods are present in a collective manner. CONSTITUTION:Partition plates 12 are set at a given interval in such a way as to position them below the water surface on legs 10 fixed to the seabed and both ends of them are closed to form a multi-stage passage-like partition chamber 14. The chamber 14 has an upper slope 14a whose one end is opened in water, a horizontal part 14b, and a vertical part 14c whose other end is extended from water surface and closed, having an air chamber 18 inside. Each of the plates 12 is partly provided with orifice 20 for mutual communication, and the chamber 18 is connected with the open air by the orifice 20a. The energy of waves can thus be absorbed with high efficiency by the simple constitution.
