Electromagnetic flow meter for conducting or dielectric fluids, and application in particular to fluids of the petrochemicals sector

System allowing the non-invasive measurement of the flow rate of a conducting or insulating fluid which flows in a pipe, resulting from the combination of an electromagnetic flow meter operating for the conducting fluids, and a flow meter using cross-correlation with triboelectric noise, operating for the insulating fluids. The system includes a device for non-invasive measurement of the conductivity of the fluid. This conductivity is used by the electronic device processing the signals in order to decide which of the two sensors is supplying a signal actually representing the flow rate of the fluid. The electromagnetic flow meter may be of the type with electrodes of small cross-section in contact with the fluid or, more advantageously, of the capacitive type, with electrodes of large cross-section which are insulated from the fluid. <IMAGE>
