PURPOSE:To efficiently compress the size of a management table by calculating an optimum information volume again to update a management table means and a management auxiliary table means if the information volume given to each of fundamental elements in parts, into which the management table means is divided by fundamental unit, is not proper. CONSTITUTION:A fundamental information volume monitor means (x) checks whether the information volume given to a fundamental element N in each of parts, into which a management table T is divided by fundamental unit (k), is proper or not synchronously with transition of a state given to each of parts, into which a logical address space L is divided by fundamental unit (l), or asynchronously with this transition, for example, at the time when the number of fundamental elements N on the table exceeds a threshold, and an optimum information volume is calculated again to update contents of the management table T and a management auxiliary table B if said checked information volume is not proper. Thus, the information volume of the management table is dynamically changed.
