PURPOSE:To obtain a good picture by detecting the distribution of an image pickup signal to judge a back light and automatically correcting by a diaphragm. CONSTITUTION:A distribution detection circuit 12 obtains a frequency included below a prescribed level L and outputs. The frequency detection circuit 12 outputs the frequency below the prescribed level L in the frequency distribution of the image pickup signal, a control circuit 13 decides the state of the back light according to the rate of said frequency to all frequency and controls so as to automatically open the diaphragm. Thereby, the good picture can be obtained without sinking an object desired to be photographed darkly.
