PURPOSE:To reduce hardware by identifying whether a slave processor is connected to a master processor or not based on the status of the slave processor after it is recognized as being inoperable. CONSTITUTION:At the end of writing into a command port, the slave processor 160 does not recognize a start of operation, but recognizes only its end. As a result, even if the slave processor 160 is not connected, the master processor 150 is never brought into a limitless waiting state. By checking and reading a status port, the disconnection of the slave processor 160 is detected, whereby no flag is needed. Checking the status is eccential to detect operational exceptions in an arithmetic unit 161. The detection that the salve processor is not connected never delays the execution of instructions for the slave processor.
