PURPOSE:To enable printing over the entire width of recording paper by raising to a horizontal slit an ink which exists under an electrode applied with a voltage, of the ink filled in a vertical slit, and permitting ink particles to be sent flying by an air flow in a recording paper direction. CONSTITUTION:An air flow comes into a horizontal slit 11 via a tubular channel 17 from a pump 16, proceeding toward a recording paper 10. In this state, a drive pulse is selectively applied to any necessary electrodes by a drive pulse application means 18 from among a plurality of electrodes 13 in accordance with an image signal. Then the ink I raised to the top of a vertical slit by means of capillarity is instantaneously lowered by an electric field generated by the slit 11. If the ink raised to a certain height, it is cut into ink particles by an air flow and these particles are sent flying toward the recording paper 10. |
