PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition useful for coatings, adhesives, molding materials, printing plate materials etc., comprising a polymerizable vinyl compound, two kinds of polyvinyl alcohol resins each having both specified saponification degree and polymerization degree, and polymerization initiator. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (A) a polymerizable vinyl compound [e.g., hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, divinylbenzene], (B) a polyvinyl alcohol resin with a saponification degree 65-90mol% and polymerization degree 50-2,000 (e.g., sulfonate group-contg. one), (C) a second polyvinyl alcohol resin with a saponification degree <=65mol% and polymerization degree <=2,000 and (D) a polymerization initiator (e.g., benzoin). The composition can be made into a highly concentrated aqueous solution with the resulting coating film enhanced in flexibility. In the applications such as printing plate materials, the eluation rate will be improved markedly, thus enabling plate materials to be effectively produced.
