PURPOSE:To form a picture in an appropriate position on a recording member by image-forming an original picture based on a read picture signal and providing a means for designating the forming position of the picture on the recording member. CONSTITUTION:The original picture is read in a CCD read part 301 and temporarily stored in a shift memory part 303 through a shading correction part 302. A variable power/shift processing part 304 changes a write clock in a memory, a read clock from the memory and read timing and executes variable power and shift processing. The picture signal outputted form the memory part 303 is processed in a density processing part 305 and a trimming processing part 306, and is transmitted to a printer. An original position detecting part 307 detects an original position, and the size of the recording member which is set in the printer is given to a reader through a connector JR1. A CPU308 controls the scan on the recording member in accordance with the recording member and the picture, and it can form the picture in a shift position which an operation part 310 designates.
