PURPOSE:To enhance photosensitivity and action velocity by specifying the density of an electric charge transfer layer composed essentially of amorphous carbon containing H or halogen. CONSTITUTION:A inorganic photoconductive layer 4 composed essentially of silicon or germanium, containing H or halogen, and the charge transfer layer 3 composed essentially of amorphous carbon containing H or halogen, having a density of 0.5-1.7g/cm<3> are laminated on a substrate 2. The dielectric constant of the amorphous carbon is 2.5-6, considerably smaller than that of a-Si:H and the like, and the lamination of amorphous carbon permits electrophotographic characteristics as high as those of the photosensitive body composed of a-Si:H, a-Si1-xGex:H, or a-Ge:H to be obtained by using the photosensitive body having 1/4-1/2 the film thickness of said photosensitive body, consequently, corona charge discharge current at the time of charging to be reduced, photosensitivity to be enhanced, and peeling of the film and warping of the substrate to be prevented. |
