PURPOSE:To make a centering adjustment work accurate and simple by conducting a centering of apparatus while driving a roll er to move it in a desired direction. CONSTITUTION:A centering apparatus for a large-sized electrical rotating machine is composed of a moving device 10 and a levitation device 20. Said moving device 10 is composed of a drive shaft 14 supported rotatably via roller bearings 12-13, a driving wheel 15, an end cover 17 fitted to a screwed shell 11 by a bolt 16 and others. Further, the driving wheel 15 is supported by the screwed shell 11 via the bearing. Al so, the levitation device 20 is composed of a screwed body 21 provided with a protrusion 21a in its upper part and with a recess 21c in its lower part, a spherical seat 22 and a sphere 24 made rotatable by a retainer 25. Thus, an installation part of the rotary electric machine is not brought into direct contact with its installation face but supported via the driving wheel 15. Therefore, its static friction resistance can be reduced and its centering can be readily conducted by an infinitesimal movement in a desired direction.
