PURPOSE:To efficiently produce green tea, usable as bagged green tea and having excellent leaching property with a few machines in a short time, by subjecting green tea leaves with reduced moisture content after completing steaming and coarse rolling processes to rolling and twisting, granulating and drying operations. CONSTITUTION:Raw leaves which are raw materials for green tea are steamed in a steaming machine, charged into a coarse rolling machine and dried with hot air at about 95 deg.C to provide green tea leaves having about 50% weight loss based on the raw leaves. The resultant leaves are then charged into a rolling and twisting machine, milled, rolled, pressurized, kneaded, blended, etc., to afford a green tea mass in a wet state. The obtained mass is then granulated into a grains having a size to fall from a 2-10-mesh wire net of a sieving machine by a granulator and then dried.
