NEW MATERIAL:Difluoromethylthioacetic acid and its derivative at the carboxyl group. USE:Synthetic raw material for various compounds. For example, it is useful as a raw material for penicillin and cephalosporin which are antibacterial compounds useful as a remedy for infectious diseases. PREPARATION:The titled compound can be produced by reacting the correspond ing thioglycolic acid mercaptide salt or its reactive derivative with difluorochloromethane. The starting thioglycolic acid mercaptide salt or its reactive derivative is obtained by treating the corresponding thioglycolic acid or its derivative with a base (e.g. alkali metal alcoholate).
