PURPOSE:To perfectly remove moisture absorbed in a tight coil before annealing by preheating the coil and subjecting it to repeated evacuation and repressurization with a carrier gas. CONSTITUTION:A tight coil A is successively treated by passing through a preheating chamber 1, a vacuum purge chamber 2 and an annealing furnace 3. The coil A preheated in the preheating chamber 1 is introduced into the vacuum purge chamber 2 and the chamber 2 is evacuated and repressurized to atmospheric pressure with an atmospheric gas (N2+H2). The evacuation and repressurization are repeated plural times, e.g., three times to nearly perfectly remove moisture absorbed in the coil A. The coil A is then introduced into the annealing furnace and subjected to prescribed annealing. By this method, a high quality tight coil is obtd. and the amt. of the gas used to remove moisture can be reduced.
