PURPOSE:To reduce the eddy current loss of a synchronous motor by providing many slits on one pole of a stator or a rotor. CONSTITUTION:A stepping motor is composed of a rotor 11, cores 12-17 for forming the poles of a stator, and coils 18-20 wound on the cores 12-17. The rotor 11 is rotatably provided at the central position of the stator, and teeth 11a are formed on the outer periphery. Teeth 12a-17a are similarly formed on the cores 12-17 of the stator. In this case, many slits 11b-13b parallel to a magnetizing direction are formed at the teeth 11a-17a of the cores 12-17 of the rotor 11 and the stator. Thus, the eddy current losses of the cores 12-17 can be largely reduced. When synthetic resin mixed with magnetic material powder is filled in the slits 11b-13b, it is preferable.
