PURPOSE:To record a easy-to-see picture by providing a means presetting a recording color of a received picture, recording the picture data in a prescribed color corresponding thereto in case of the transmission of plural color picture data and recording a black-and-white data according to the set recording color so as to always utilize the color recording function. CONSTITUTION:In detecting a call signal from a line, a communication control section 7 of a color facsimile equipment (FI) controls an NCU 9 to connect the line and receives a picture data sequentially according to the mode while discriminating the transmission mode. A coding/decoding section 6 decodes a picture data for each line and stores it in a line memory, a three-color plotter 3 receives the picture data to record it on thermo-sensing recording paper 16. When the opposite FI sends a three-color picture data, a system control section 1 controls a plotter 3 to record a received picture in a prescribed color and when the sender uses a black-and-white FI, the control section 1 controls the plotter 3 so as to record the data according to the received picture color stored in advance.
