PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable apparatus, by using the drive chain connected to a body to be located as a moving means. CONSTITUTION:A wire rope 2 is provided so as to be trained over a plurality of pulleys 3 under tension and connected to a drive motor 1 to be driven. A body 4 to be located is connected to the rope 2 and moved by the driving of the rope 2. Further, the body 4 to be located has an almost truck shape and moves along the guide 5 provided along the moving direction of the rope 2 and the leading end of the tape body 7 drawn out from a scale unit 6 is mounted to the length measuring reference point of the body 4 to be located. The unit 6 detects the opening 8 provided to the tape body 7 along the longitudinal direction thereof. Then, the tape body 7 is drawn out in a linear form along the moving direction of the rope 2 and the detection result is inputted to a control part 9 from the unit 6. The control unit 9 outputs the driving command of the motor 1 and counts the pulse signal from the unit 6 to measure a positioning length.
