IMPLANTABLE BIVENTRICULAR CIRCULATORY SUPPORT SYSTEM

A biventricular circulatory support system wherein a first pump (10) supports left ventricular circulation (systemic) and a second pump (110) for supporting right ventricular circulation (pulmonary). Both pumps are implanted in a patient, and each pump is enclosed in a sac (11, 111) defining a pumping chamber (13, 113). The sacs (11, 111) are connected by a conduit or tube (77) to provide a common volume (13, 113, 77), such that contraction of the first pump allows expansion of the second, and such that expansion of the first pump allows contraction of the second.
