In a movement measurement device is arranged a distorsion body (1) of transparent amorphous material, which carries on both sides an optically active filter (6, 7) with a 45 DEG rotation. On the outer side of a filter (7) is arranged a reflective layer (8). On the outside of the other filter (6) is applied a circularly polarizing filter layer (9). Light from a light source (10) is reflected from the reflective layer (8) and strikes a photo-cell (11). The various wavelengths of the light are affected in a differing manner according to the crushing or elongation of the distorsion body (1), thereby enabling the detection and evaluation of the deformation not only according to its extent but also its direction.
