PURPOSE:To make it possible to discriminate whether a film ink ribbon has been already used or can be used, by laminating the film ink ribbon with a conductor for detection of the trailing end of the ribbon in an area reaching to the trailing end so that the conductor can be detected by a sensor when a ribbon cartridge is fitted to a printer. CONSTITUTION:On a trailing end part of a film ink ribbon 13 wound up around a payout roll 12, a coating of a film ink 21 is so provided as not to reach the trailing end but to end at an intermediate part of the ribbon, and a conductor 22 consisting of a metallic foil is provided in a laminate state on the ribbon adjacently to the trailing end 21a of the coating of the ink 21 so as to reach the trailing end of the ribbon. When the conductor 22 makes contact with a sensor 23, a current flows from one electrode 24 of a pair of electrodes 24, 25 provided in the sensor 23 to the other 25 through the conductor 22, whereby the conductor 22 is detected, and it is detected that the film ink ribbon 13 is a used one. |
