PURPOSE:To prevent a magnetic tape from curling by the internal stress generated therein when a magnetic metallic film deposited by evaporation shrinks on cooling by providing a polymer layer having the glass transition temp. below the specific temp. on a base and forming said magnetic film on the polymer layer. CONSTITUTION:A soln. of, for example, polyurethane resin having <=60 deg.C glass transition temp. is coated on a base 1 of a polyester film, etc. and is dried to form a polymer layer 2. A highly magnetic metallic film 3 of Co, Ni, etc. deposited by evaporation is formed on the layer 2. The curling of the magnetic medium by the internal stress generated in the film 3 when said film shrinks on natural cooling of the layer 2 after the vapor deposition of the film 3 is prevented and the initial winding characteristic and the running stability in the stage of recording and reproducing are maintained without deterioration. |
