Cap-less writing instrument with body (1, 2) comprising writing member (8) with writing tip (8c) and air hole (8a); seal cylinder (3) with small diameter front end part (30) provided with end opening therein; seal cover (4) for closing said end opening provided on seal cylinder (3) side or writing instrument (8) side near the front end of seal cylinder (3); elastic sealing member (9) is provided, at rear of air hole (8a) located at retraction of writing tip (8c) of writing member (8) into seal cylinder (3), in seal cylinder (3) or the part of body (1, 2) which is in contact with rear end of seal cylinder (3) such that sealing member (9) is maintained pressed against a part of writing member (8); writing member moving mechanism provided between body (1, 2) and writing member (8) which is turned or knocked to move writing member (8) forwards and to lock it at a writing position with writing tip (8c) protruding through front end hole of body (1, 2), and which unlocks writing member (8) and moves it backwards by elastic force of retracting spring (12) or by rotation to thereby retract writing tip (8c) into seal cylinder (3); connecting means which uses a thread-like member (15), bar-like member or wire-like member to connect writing member (8) or a member operating in association therewith to seal cover (4) so that writing member (8) can move forward even after seal cover (4) has been opened, and after writing member (8) is retracted seal cover (4) is pulled backwards so as to be brought into close contact with end of said small diameter part (3a), and between body (1, 2) and seal cylinder (3); means for guiding said thread-like member, bar-like member or wire-like member provided on seal cylinder (3) side or said body (1, 2).
