PURPOSE:To easily and efficiently recognize a frame part with high accuracy by restarting recognition processing while varying the threshold value of binarization processing according to a recognition result. CONSTITUTION:An input spectacle frame image is converted by a processor 8 into binary pattern data, which is recognized to find information on the frame part. In this case, when a deficiency of the frame part is detected in the recognition result, the threshold value of the binarization processing is varied. The binarization processing based upon the varied threshold value is performed and the frame part is detected by recognizing the pattern data on it. Further, the threshold value is varied while decreased gradually, so the mixing of background noises is minimized to detect the frame part. Consequently, information on the frame part is accurately and easily found from the spectacle frame image automatically by the binarization processing based upon a proper threshold value a without any trouble such as the tracing of the spectacle frame image.
