PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fine particles, having a high bulk density as well as specific surface area and useful as packings for liquid chromatography, etc., by dissolving a specific acrylonitrile copolymer in a solvent, dividing the resultant solution into the form of particles, bringing the formed particles into contact with a nonsolvent and coagulating the polymer. CONSTITUTION:An acrylonitrile based polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture consisting of (i) 80-97wt.% acrylonitrile, (ii) 3-20wt.% alkyl acrylate and (iii) 0-17wt.% other copolymerizable monomers is dissolved in (B) a solvent, e.g. DMF, etc., and the resultant solution is divided into the form of particles, which are then brought into contact with a nonsolvent capable of dissolving the solvent but no component (A), e.g. water, methanol, etc., to coagulate the polymer and afford the aimed fine particles.
