Sealable containers are disclosed which include a plastic base with an annular rim, a plastic lid with an annular U-shaped outer periphery for application to the annular rim on the plastic base, and a U-shaped annular metallic clamping strip with a corresponding configuration to the outer periphery of the lid, so that when applied to the closed container and crimped on either side of the annular rim, the container is effectively sealed form the atmosphere.
