<p>The invention is concerned with a fire-resistant composite structural element comprising a steel structural member comprising at least one pair of flanges bridged by web and defining between the flanges a channel, a flat steel plate affixed to the web and extending over at least part of the length of the structural member within the channel, and a body of concrete at least partly filling the channel and affixed to the structural member while enclosing the plate, outer surfaces of the flanges being free from concrete covering. With a relatively simple structure, the composite structural element of the invention has increased load-carrying capacity even under fire conditions.</p> |
