PURPOSE:To enable a recording paper to be securely set, by moving a carriage to such a specified position as to enable a guide on the carriage to guide one of settable recording media which has the smallest width. CONSTITUTION:Cut papers 4 of a size designated by an external host device 22 are stored in a cassette 2 fitted to an automatic paper-supplying device 1. When a paper-supplying signal is supplied from the host device 22 to a controlling circuit 21 (CPU) of a recorder, the CPU set a step counter 29 to a predetermined value. The CPU 21 applies pulses to a stepping motor 24 for driving the carriage, so as to move the carriage to a feeding position. Upon each one- step movement, the counter 29 is decremented by 1, and the carriage is positioned at the feeding position when the count on the counter 29 is reduced to 0. With the carriage moved to the feeding position, the paper is supplied. |
