PURPOSE:To extend plural number of cables simultaneously and prevent damage to a cable surface by moving a holding device which holds cables to be extended, in an extending direction and returning said holding device to its original position in a condition that its holding is removed. CONSTITUTION:Cables 14... are interposedly held under pressure and extended by means of holding members 28, 30, thereby, extending plural number of cables 14... simultaneously and efficiently. At the time of moving the holding device 16 and bogie 20 of a cable extending device, a control device 44 controls a driving cylinder 40 and holding cylinders 36A, 36B based on the detection of the holding force of the cables 14 by strain gauges 120 and the detection of a load value by a load measuring device 50. Thereby, the cables 14 are held by a proper holding force while being stretched by a proper tensile force. Also, since the cable extending devices on a cable extending route are controlled by one control device 44, the synchronous control of the cable extending devices can be easily carried out.
