PURPOSE:To measure the frequency of using a line in real time and to eliminate an external large-scaled measurement instrument by permitting a counter in a communication control equipment to measure time that data occupies the line with the aid of a bit synchronizing clock. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of data on a reception line are sequentially inputted to a shift register 13, and a synchronizing character detection circuit 14 always monitors the contents of the register. When the circuit 14 detects a preset character in the data string, it instructs an exchange control part 2 to do a reception action. Simultaneously a 1st counter 9 is activated, and starts counting bit synchronizing clocks. Data received by a register 12 is converted into parallel data, and transmitted to an external controller through the help of a general control part 1. The synchronizing character detection circuit 14 agains detects a synchronization detection character added to the end of the reception data, detects the end of the data, and instructs the control part 2 to stop a reception action. Simultaneously the circuit 14 stops the counter 9 from counting the synchronizing clocks.
