PURPOSE:To avoid the generation of water hammer, when this motor is used for driving a pump, by providing a control circuit to be used when said motor is stopped, with a reduced-voltage circuit and by stopping the motor after decreasing once a voltage driving it. CONSTITUTION:During a steady operation of a motor, a control circuit 8 opens contacts, (a), (c) and closes a contact (b). If a stop ping operation is conducted, the control circuit 8 closes the contact (a) and opens the contact (b) to operate a reactor. Then, a timer operates as the contact (c) is closed and a reduced- voltage operation is conducted. After the lapse of a given period of time from starting of operation of the timer the contact a is opened to break a power source to stop the motor 2 and the contact (c) is opened lastly. When the motor is operated at a reduced voltage, said voltage is regulated by a resistor R.
