PURPOSE:To recognize a card with less hardware by displaying a card name or the like being the conversion of contents of a register read through a scan path by a corresponding table to an outside. CONSTITUTION:A processor SVP shifts to right the contents of registers REG1, REG2 one by one bit connected to paths PATH1, PATH2 and a bit shifted-out from the register REG2 is read from the path PATH2 to the processor SVP. Then the content is being shifted until the entire bit width of the register is read to read the content of the register. The processor SVP recognizes the name code and the revision code from the information sent sequentially from the path PATH2 by recognizing the information of sequence of information read by the scan path system as above. The processor SVP obtaining the name code reads out the name code, card name and the corresponding table of the card function name stored in a main storage MMU to obtain the card name and the card function name from the name code.
