Helium leak detector comprising at least one primary vacuum pump 1, one secondary vacuum pump 2, an analysis cell 3 connected up on the inlet side of the secondary pump, an entry pipe 4 intended to be connected at one of its ends 5 to an enclosure 6 to be tested, and whose other end 7 is connected to the inlet of the secondary pump, the said pipe being fitted with an entry valve called the first valve 8, characterised in that the exit of the secondary pump is connected, through an exit pipe 9, to the said entry pipe 4 between the said first valve 8 and the said end 5 of the said entry pipe intended to be connected to the said enclosure 6 to be tested, the said exit pipe 9 being fitted in series with a second valve 10 and a third valve 11, the inlet of the said primary pump being connected to the said exit pipe 9 between the second 10 and the third 11 valves, the control of the three said valves being independent. <IMAGE>
