PURPOSE:To make working fluid incombustible without deteriorating the machining characteristics of electric discharge machining by a method wherein kerosene mixed with emulsified sachgaric solution is used as working fluid. CONSTITUTION:The kerosene-base liquid mixed with saccharic solution emulsified by the addition of surface active agent is used as the working fluid of electric discharge machining. The emulsion comprising 50% kerosene and 50% saccharose solution shows the excellent wear ratio of electrode and the same machining speed as compared with those of kerosene only. The working fluid is made incombustible as mentioned above, while its machining characteristics are kept the same or higher than those of kerosene, resulting in preventing fire accidents from occurring. A 30-65% solution of glucose, fructose or the like can be used as saccharic solution in place of saccharose. |
